At Audiology First we are proud to offer Otoscan by Natus, the latest innovation in digital 3D imaging technology, especially designed for modern hearing care clinics.
Taking earmold impressions is a daily task for most hearing care professionals.
Earmolds are used to produce hearing protection, and custom hearing aids.
The old fashioned method of taking an ear impression was to syringe a soft putty-like compound into a plugged ear canal, allowing it to set into the shape of the ear.
It was a messy, occasionally risky, and time consuming.
Otoscan simplifies our ear impression process.
Otoscan uses a laser scanner to map the internal contours of the ear, creating a 3D representation of your ear.
It's cleaner, safer, and takes much less time. Scans are sent instantly to our manufacturing partners, which means they are produced much sooner.
Otoscan provides our clinicians with the ability to better understand individual ear anatomy. It can allow us to reduce the risk of damaging delicate ear structures, and offers greater comfort to those who need custom earmold impressions. It also allows us to work more closely with our production team on custom hearing products to help them fit comfortably and accurately.
*Note that custom earmold impressions may need to be taken with the traditional methods in some limited circumstances.
